Albert Halls - A Little History The Albert Halls has come a long way since re-opening for business back in 1985. The venue, which had been gutted by fire back in November 1981,spent three and half years undergoing a complete internal rebuild, converting what had for the previous 108 years been a single large concert hall, into two separate halls. The upper Albert Halls' capacity of 676 in its normal theatre setting is extremely versatile with the option to remove and reconfigure seats depending on the event.
CATS (Children's Amateur Theatre Society) - was formed in 1994 by Louise & Paul Cohen, to provide an education in stage skills and experience in theatrical performance for children aged between 8 & 16 years. Both Louise & Paul have extensive theatrical experience, dating back to their childhoods, and continue to act and direct with a number of local companies. The society is based in Bolton and normally stages one production per year, usually at The Theatre Church in Astley Bridge. C.A.T.S. is operated strictly as a non-profit making organization. Revenues are derived from ticket sales, subscriptions from the membership and other fundraising activities. As anyone who has staged a musical will know, expenditure on performance rights, costumes, lighting, rehearsal facilities etc... can be extensive, but in the event of surplus revenue all funds are re-invested in the society. In recognition of their success, and the service they provide to Bolton's youth, C.A.T.S. were awarded a bursary by Farnworth & Little Hulton Partnership in March of this year to provide a portable sound system and musical equipment. Moving into the new millennium C.A.T.S. continues under the dedicated guidance of Louise & Paul Cohen, who govern the society hand-in-hand with a committee of six children elected by the membership.

Farnworth Little Theatre - Established in 1948, Farnworth Little Theatre is an amateur theatre group situated just outside Bolton. Our first full length play 'Night Must Fall', was presented in 1949, and since then we have offered a continuous programme of up to five full length productions a year. We are totally self-supporting, financing the running and upkeep of the theatre through box office takings, membership fees, charitable donations and regular fund-raising events. The theatre is run by volunteers and therefore offers many opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in a range of activities, from acting to wardrobe, lighting and sound to publicity and set-building. We have a thriving Youth Group for 11-18 year olds who also participate in many of the wider activities of the theatre.
Farnworth Performing Arts Company - performs musicals, plays. pantomimes, concerts and musical evenings, incorporating a membership from 3 year olds to much older! We build and paint scenery - design and sew costumes - make props, make-up and hairdressing and organising social events; all these activities happen as well as the singing, acting and dancing, so why not come along to a rehearsal evening sometime and sample the atmosphere - you may find something you enjoy.
