Chester Astronomical Society - has met regularly since 1971 when it was formed by a group of local amateur astronomers. The membership has always consisted of both active observers (some of whom have built their own equipment) and 'armchair' astronomers. Interest in every aspect of astronomy is welcomed. The society does not have an observatory, but it does have two telescopes for loan to members. There is usually at least one star party held each year, and special observing sessions are occasionally held. No charge is made for the loan of books, videos and software from the Society Library. A monthly newsletter is also produced. Help and advice for beginners is gladly given by the more experienced members. The topics for talks and discussions range from the basic practicalities of observing to the latest cosmological theories

Chester and District Walking Group - is a friendly group bringing people together from Cheshire, Wirral, and North Wales who enjoy walking and socialising. We have weekend walks in Cheshire, Shropshire and North Wales, and sometimes stay in other areas on weekend trips. Our programme includes social events, and during the summer we also have local evening walks. We share transport when travelling to the start of walks, and on weekends away.
