Burton Fell Walking Society - have been organising a regular walking programme for the past 25 years. On this web site we would like to tell you a little about the Burton Fell Walking Society, how we operate, the types of walk we organise, give you a flavour of these outings and perhaps tempt you to join us in the future. In return please tell us what you think of this web site and how we can improve our walking programme. Burton is in the midst of an area of outstanding natural beauty - the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales, North Lancashire and the Forest of Bowland, and Morecambe Bay. As our chairman said at our last AGM he continues to be amazed at the sheer variety of walks found by our leaders. Walking is really a magical way of exploring and discovering the countryside all around us.

The Fairfield Association of Lancaster - protecting and improving green spaces. The Association was formed by residents and friends of the Fairfield area of Lancaster (England) in October 1996, in response to the threat of housing development on a long-established children’s play area (Fairfield Green). The area was saved and has since been landscaped and upgraded into a much valued local resource. Other projects have followed, notably the conversion of an area of 2.2 acres of unused land into the Millennium Green and Community Orchard; we are currently working towards establishing an urban nature reserve on farmland nearby. All our projects have been initiated by the community, and we are committed to full public consultation throughout the period that plans are being developed.
Lancaster District Birdwatching Society - covers an area of north Lancashire, south Cumbria, and North Yorkshire, organising indoor meetings and field trips, collecting records of birds seen, and organising surveys with the BTO and others.
